Proverbs 10:20

The tongue of the righteous is choice silver, but the heart of the wicked is of little value. (Proverbs 10:20)

Not only does a wise person hold their tongue from bad as stated in the previous verse, but they use it for good. When we accepted Christ into our hearts to be our righteousness, he expected us to actually walk him out into our daily life. He didn’t light the light for us to hide it under our bed (Luke 11:33). He lit it for us to shine him to the world, which by the way includes the family members that we interact with every day. When our tongues are not reflecting the love of God, we are walking in the flesh. Paul said, "I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh" (Romans 7:18a). Our heart of flesh is of no value in God’s sight because it was corrupted by the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. It’s time for us as God’s people to reign in our tongues and learn to bear the fruit of the Spirit of grace instead of ignorantly manifesting the deeds of the flesh.
